The summer of 2008!!!
An Awesome Site After a Severe T-storm Hits Sodus Point on August 10, 2008
A severe t-storm plowed through northern parts of Wayne County with strong winds, heavy rains and hail, but after the storm passed this is what we saw overlooking Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario!! A thing of absolute beauty!! See pictures below. Click on the picture to make larger or see slide show!
Intense storms move across the area on the July 23 , 2008
During the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 23, 2007, thunderstorms with very heavy rains, intense lightning, strong winds, and large hail moved a crossed portions of the area. As you can see on the 3 radar pictures I captured below from this event, the pink areas represent the large hail cores within the storms. Several locations reported hail and even covering the ground in some areas. The pictures where taken in North Rose in Wayne County from the hail damage. If you look up in the upper left hand corner of the pictures, you can see the time I captured the radar picture. Just click on the picture to make it bigger and then click on it again to make it even bigger yet. This sure has been a hail of a summer hasn't it!!
Wayne County - Marion / Macedon Storm Event - Sunday, July 20, 2008
It only lasted for a few minutes, but the damage was fairly extensive to say the least for a few home owners in the Town of Marion and Macedon during a thunderstorm that hit the area about 12:15 PM EDT on Sunday, July 20th. I was working in the weather office here at Krenzer Marine when this storm developed over the Macedon and Marion areas Sunday. There were really very little indications on our radar that this storm would produce such damage in a relatively small area of Wayne County. I went to visit the site in Marion and was amazed on the damage. I spoke with several families today and they all stated it sounded like a train coming through the woods on Parker Road, in Marion. They saw a clear and defined circulation of debris flying around in the air. I spoke with the National Weather Service in Buffalo this morning and they will be looking at the photos I have to see if this was straight line winds or an actual tornado that hit the area. From the damage I seen this morning it was clear to me that there was something that went through with a clear rotation with it. It could have very possibly been a small tornado, but I will let the Weather Service make that judgment. Click on the picture to make it bigger and then click on it again to make it even bigger yet. You can also see a slide show! The National Weather Service did not get back to me on this, but my belief is that a small tornado did in fact briefy touch down in Macedon and Marion.
